Active Sex Life Makes Most Elderly Women Happy

What makes most elderly women happy in their remaining years on earth?
A recent survey has shown that having an active sex life is what makes women ages 60 to 89 years old happy while they are still alive here on earth. The data was taken from 1,200 elderly women surveyed by researchers.
“What this study tells us is that many older adults retain their ability to enjoy sex well into old age,” said study co-author Wesley K. Thompson, an assistant professor of psychiatry with the Stein Institute for Research on Aging at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. Thompson said Feeling satisfied with your sex life — whatever your levels of sexual activity — is closely related to your perceived quality of life.”
A study by a team of researchers looking at the sex lives of 3,000 middle-aged and elderly volunteers concluded that health problems and the lack of a suitable partner, rather than low libido, were the main barriers to an active sex life. Three quarters of those in their late fifties and early sixties were still sexually active compared with half of those aged between 65 and 75, and a quarter in the 75 to 85 age group. Most of those who were sexually active were having sex at least two to three times a month. The most common difficulties in women were vaginal dryness, difficulty reaching orgasm and reduced sex drive.
