Chanel Preview Their 2012 Paris-Bombay Collection
14. December 2011
Karl Langerfeld brings his interpretation of the Indian fashion flair into Chanel’s new Paris-Bombay collection. Simply put, the 2012 collection is a work of art that showcases Indian style aesthetics.
“It’s all about refinement. The Partisan version of India,” Karl Langerfeld explained. “Coco loved Indian jewelry, she’s created several inspirational Indian outfits and that was enough for me. I was inspired more by men than the feminine clothes. They are easier to wear.” Langerfeld explained that he was inspired by Coco Chanel’s Indian themed outfits over the past 60 years.
The collection was unveiled in Chanel’s Grand Palais home, Paris to a select audience invited to preview the collection on the 6th of December. The unveiling was done in a banquet style, featuring tables laden with tea, fruits and other delights as well as crystal decanters for the special guests.
The collection features fuschia, gold, snowy white and silver colored outfits. Tweed coats and dresses are also part of the collection, as well as Indian inspired jewelry pieces including pearls and elements of embroidery and metallic on the saris.
The preview featured a stellar line up of the best models including British Fashion Award Model of the Year winner Stella Tennant, Amber Le Bon and Yasmin.
