From professional basketball, former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Magic Johnson will now be focusing on the sport of professional baseball.
This developed after Johnson and some of his rich friends were able to successfully buy the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers team in Major League Baseball. According to reports, Johnson’s group successfully purchased the Dodgers team for $2 billion.
Sources said Johnson and his group had long wanted to own the Dodgers since they love the team and they do not want it to depart from Los Angeles. Johnson was reportedly happy with their success in acquiring the Dodgers and could not wait to make the team become more competitive again in MLB.
The 52-year-old superstar point-guard played in the NBA for 13 seasons where he won five NBA championships and three MVP awards in a Hall of Fame career. The Lakers legend retired from the NBA in 1991 after being diagnosed with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
After his NBA career, Johnson has been very successful in business, investing in movie theaters, a production company and restaurants.
