    Reviving The Racy Lacy Trend

    31. January 2012

The lace trend has a way of reinventing itself with every passing season, and you can be sure that this is one of the trends that will feature dominantly throughout this year. It seems like everyone is wearing lace outfits, and this trend has featured repeatedly on the red carpet.

Lace outfits have a certain charm about them, giving them a racy look without disrupting their femininity. It is wise to incorporate lace outfits into your wardrobe in small doses; the all-lace trend doesn’t work for everyone and if not paired appropriately, the result in an unflattering over the top look.

Outfits with lace accents are the best choice for women who want to try out the look, before embracing it fully. There are diverse selections of outfits with lace details, which can work well into your wardrobe all year round.

The other choice would be to go for accessories and shoes with lace details. Lace detailing has a similar effect on accessories as they do on garments, and the result in a chic feminine appearance. Shoes with lace details are particularly charming and they can be paired with different types of outfits.

The daring few can opt for the all-dress look by opting for lace dresses. However, there are selections of demure lace dresses, which are accompanied by linings to expose minimal skin.

Jean Paul Gaultier Amy Winehouse Tribute Fashion Show

    30. January 2012

Jean Paul Gaultier paid homage to the late Amy Winehouse by fashioning his 2012 spring/summer couture collection with elements of Amy’s signature styles.

The models donned Amy’s signature beehive hairdo, cigarettes, Monroe-like moles and dramatic winged eyeliner. Gaultier explained, “She was so exceptional in her style; how she held her body; the way she dressed, mixing pieces from different decades.”

Amy’s family did not take the homage lightly; “we’re still grieving for her loss, and we’ve had a difficult week with the six-month anniversary of Amy’s death. To see her image lifted wholesale to sell clothes was a wrench we were not expecting or consulted on,” Amy’s dad Mitch said.

There might have been a miscommunication between the late singer’s family and the acclaimed designer. They felt like “It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best, and glamorizes some of the more upsetting times in her life. That’s upsetting for her family.” Mitch added that it was in bad taste to have models walking down the runway with cigarettes. “This is purely about Gaultier making money, and that’s wrong.” The family recently launched the Amy Winehouse Foundation, aimed at helping young people struggling with addiction and illness.

Spring Whites Promise To Be A Hot Trend This Year

    18. January 2012

Judging from the collections presented on the catwalks for the 2012 spring/summer collections, we can comfortably deduce that spring whites will definitely be a hot trend this year.

Simplicity rules, when it comes to spring whites this year. Some of the designers who presented white ensembles on cat walks include Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana, who took on the minimalist approach with girlish feminine pieces.

Borrowing a leaf from the catwalks; sheer silk, cotton white and lace whites promise to feature prominently in a number of women’s wardrobes. The great thing about spring whites is the endless pairing possibilities they provide; white is a neutral color and as such you can pair it in limitless color combinations.

Bright hues are also expected to be in trend this year, and it therefore implies that whites should be paired with bright colored outfit ensembles.

However, the all white trend paired with stunning accessories is likely to be a hit as well. The classic monochrome trend is ever fashionable, and it is also likely to feature on the streets as well.
