The Petiole hammock priced at $35,000 stands as the world’s most expensive hammock. The hammock is already cultivating a collection of accolades and recently it won awards at a Paris design show.

The self-suspended hammock was handmade in Sweden after 20 years of research and tweaking its design. The hammock is the creation of two artisans who hand molded each piece, and the hammock takes four weeks to complete.

The petiole comes equipped with a UV protected canopy and is made using high tensile steel which is able to accommodate the weight of its occupant. The hammock provides an ideal spot to relax out in the open with a significant other, because it is built to accommodate two people.

The hammock is available for sale from Hammacher.

Katy Perry Joins the Barbie Doll Bandwagon

Tis the season for Barbie dolls, or so it seems. Katy Perry has joined the bandwagon of celebrities who have recently had Barbie dolls produces in their likeness. Katy Perry’s limited edition Barbie doll is likewise up for auction, and all the proceeds collected from the sale of the doll will go to charity.

The doll was inspired by the cupcake dress that Katy Perry wore in the California Gurls video, and the Barbie doll comes with 70 mini-cupcakes, Swarovski studded fishnet stockings and a candy-colored glistering bodice.

The doll will benefit the Project Angel Food diary and is expected to sell for a whooping $15,000. The doll will be displayed in a case and it will also come with a certificate of authenticity. The current bid for the doll stands at $3,250 on the Charity Buzz website.

Hennessey’s 2013 Drop Top Venom GT Spyder

Hennessey has announced the release of an open-air vehicle to replace their 1,200 hp Venom GT supercar. Dubbed the Venom GT Sypder, the car is expected to be launched in 2013.

The Texan based Hennessey Engineering Company has structured the Venom GT Spyder to incorporate an easily-removable hardtop. “With the hardtop in place, the Venom GT offers a very visceral, raw, driving experience. With the hardtop removed, the wind and the growl of the twin turbo V-8 will offer our clients an even greater driving sensation,” explained Don Goldman; Hennessey’s CEO.

The 1200 hp roofless car is expected to achieve 275 mph speeds and will comprise of a lightweight carbon fiber body weighing in at 1200 kilograms. The car will also spot carbon fiber wheels.

There are already two orders for the Venom GT Syper which is expected to retail at $1.1 million.

Nicki Minaj is immortalized in a limited edition Mattel Barbie doll. Mattel is auctioning the doll for charity, to benefit those affected with HIV/AIDS through Project Angel Food.

Stefani Yocki, Barbie spokeswoman, explained “Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She’s been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times. And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan. It’s really exciting for us that she’s been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause.”

Bids for the Nicki Minaj limited edition doll begin at $1,000 and entitles the highest bidder to join the exclusive Barbie club affiliated with the doll. The doll mirrors Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday album cover.

The doll will be on display at the five day Divine Design’s gala at the Beverly Hilton. Bidding for the doll is being conducted by the CharityBuzz website and bidding for the doll will be on auction until the 19^th of December.

Rihanna has collaborated with Emporio Armani before for an underwear advertisement, but this time around she will create an exclusive limited collection for the brand’s underwear and jeans collection. The unique collection will carry the brand’s signature eagle logo as well as Rihanna’s R logo.

The collection will include lingerie (lace underwear in pear gray and navy blue), biker jackets, denim jeans (including tight boy cut jeans and skinny jeans), a canvas rucksack and T-shirts (branded with animal print designs or Rihanna’s face). The new designs from the collection are scheduled for release from November 2011 onwards.

In a recent interview with Skynews.com Rihanna revealed that she likes shocking people with her fashion choices. She added “I probably see a lot of menswear, or something extremely, extremely feminine. But I like to play with both. It would have to be so extreme that it’s a look, because I don’t usually like typical ladylike, girly-girly stuff. It would be a look if I were to do it. I always like something that’s a little off, so it’s just not typical or expected.”

Judging by how stunning Valentino’s Timestrings collection is, every woman should strive to get a pair of shoes out of the collection in her Christmas stocking. The collection comprises of ten shoe designs; featuring demure, edgy and ladylike styles.

The name of the collection is derived from the savoir-faire and time taken to create the Valentino shoes. The experimental shoe collection is headed by Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia’s. The shoes in the collection play around with the avant-garde theme and take on a numerological approach. Each individual pair of shoes from the collection is identified by a string of handwritten numbers, found inside its sole.

The ten pairs of shoes which make up the collection feature iconic Valentino motifs including lace, the color red and flowers. Some of the shoes also feature tiny bows decorated in grid-like booties, creating a naughty and nice kind of feel to them.

The limited edition collection will be available from mid December in select stores around the globe.

A sneak peak into Lady Gaga’s holiday workshop conjures up images on Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. The workshop is Barneys’ in-store holiday store which has been conceived and designed by Lady Gaga.

The 5,500 Square feet workshop located on the 5^th floor of the store features crazy shapes and a gigantic cartoon statue of Lady Gaga pinup surrounded by jagged mirrors and placed atop countless black plastic discs. In collaboration with stylist Nicola Formichetti, the superstar created seasonal window displays for the workshop.

Lady Gaga pointed out that she thinks that the Barneys headband with hair bows, stiletto heels, iphone and ipod covers, and holiday stockings will be a potential hit for the holiday season.

2morrow Model Management’s Nadja Girmata was lucky to try on a couple of these diamond-studded blindfolds during the photo shoot of an editorial piece titled ‘How to Wear Bright and Dark Diamonds.’ Nadja was also photographed adorning lace bodysuits, lace brassieres and a satin ruffled top. The photos were shot by Fabio Leidithe and styled by Olimpia Pitacco. There is no word about the sexy blindfolds being on sale, but it’s just about time before they become the next best selling fashion accessories found in the market.
