If you simply love cameras and wouldn’t mind indulging in a little luxury; then the German Sigma SD1 was made for you. The limited edition camera retails at $13,700 and there are only 10 of them available, only in Germany.

The camera’s body is crafted using Amboyna Burl; an expensive, attractively textured burl wood. This is the wood that is used to finish off the interior of luxury cars. The housing can be removed, behind closed doors when the camera is not being shown off.

The camera is a great collectible item, with only 10 pieces produced. (Photo: www.therichtimes.com)

You might be wary about walking around taking photos with this expensive camera, but it is a luxury worth investing in. If you are generous enough, you could gift it to a loved one as a Christmas present. It is also a great collectible item to add to your collections, because it might just make you a killing in the near future.

No. 5, 1948 The Most Expensive Painting In The World

    14. October 2011

No.5, 1948 is the most expensive painting in the world and it was sold for $140 million. (Photo: farm4.static.flickr.com)

Human beings are by nature creatures of habit; it is this habit that leads different people to indulge in different luxuries. There are some people who simply live for art; they will attend every art gallery that there is to attend and buy expensive pieces of art, if only to quench their thirst off the insatiable love for art. Looking at the now infamous No. 5, 1948 some people would simply not get it, others would think that it is a reflective piece of art and others would do everything they can to get their hands on the painting.

Rumored to be worth $140 million, the No. 5, 1948 painting by Jackson Pollock is not short of controversy. The painting is rumored to have been sold to David Martinez; a managing partner at Fintech Advisory, a firm that deals with providing debt solutions to countries and corporations. It might be because of the implications that come with announcing that you have a painting worth millions in your living room to the public, but David Martinez’s attorneys denied that he is in possession of the painting.

In November 2006, The New York Times broke a story implying that David Geffen, the founder of Geffen Records, who was the owner of the painting, had sold it to David Martinez. Although the details of the sale are still speculative and it is not known whether Martinez posses the painting; the sale of the No. 5, 1948 at $ 140 million currently stands as the most expensive painting that has ever been sold in the history of the world.

A True Jewel of The Sea; The Most Expensive Yatch In The World

    13. October 2011

The most expensive yatch in the world is gold plated and costs £3bn. (Photo: img.thesun.co.uk)

Who wouldn’t want to be the proud owner of the only gold-plated super yatch found on the planet? At £3billion, even the wealth of the wealthiest would think twice about spending their hard earned money on this sea jewel. However, the Jewel of The Sea is not your ordinary yatch; the yatch is made out of 100 tons of gold.

The 100ft yatch is all ensuite, comprising of platinum covered sleeping quarters, deck and dining area, rails, anchor and a Tyrannosaurus Rex statue. Stuart Hughes, a Liverpool jeweler, is the brains behind the atrociously expensive but luxurious yatch.

The yatch has a platinum-made sleeping quarters decked up with a Tyrannosaurus Rex statue. (Photo: img.thesun.co.uk)

Stuart who has previously made a diamond-wrapped iPhone worth £5million said, “I’ve covered all sorts of things in gold but this has got to be my most ambitious project yet. This will never be topped.” He added, “The businessman just approached us and asked us whether we could do it. He wanted a plane doing as well, but the thing would never take off if we did. So he said, ‘Can you do the yacht?’ and I said, ‘We’ll give it a crack.’ Then it was pretty much a case of can you make this gold, can you make that gold? “We just did what we were told and are delighted with the result.”

The Jewel of The Sea took 3 years to build, and was put-together in Italy, after which it had its finishing touches added to it in Malaysia.

Who Will Step Up To The Challenge and Buy The Most Expensive Shoes in The World?

    12. October 2011

The most expensive shoes in the world cost £140,000. (Photo: www.refinery29.com)

What happens when shoes meet jewelry; you either get the most expensive luxurious footwear found in the world, or a colossal disaster that reflects a lack of taste. For only £140,000 ($228, 452) fashion enthusiasts can own the world’s most expensive shoes.

The solid gold shoes are encrusted with 2,000 diamonds, giving literal meaning to Paul Simon’s song; she’s got ‘diamonds on the soles of her feet.’ Each of the 2,000 diamonds encrusting the shoes weighs 30 carats.

British jeweler Christopher Michael Shellis is the brain child behind the jewelry footwear. The designer spent 3 years working on the painstakingly well-put-together pair of shoes. Asked about the inspiration for designing the shoes Shellis said “The aim of this was to create a unique form of jewelry which you can wear on your feet.”

The shoes were a part of a huge exhibition which took place in Birmingham’s Artbox in the Mailbox, from April 16th to May 2nd 2011. The shoes have caused a lot of buzz and whenever they crop up in conversations, Paris Hilton and Cheryl Cole’s names also crop up. So far, the shoes have not recorded any sales despite being on sale for more than 5 months. Which begs the question, was this too much of an ambition on the designer’s part or are these shoes just too expensive even for the much famed celebrities?

Only time will tell, we can only keenly look-out for the first celebrity who will be spotted adorning a pair of the most expensive pair of shoes in the world.

    Celebrity Phobias

    10. October 2011

Phobias can be frightening, funny or simply weird. (Photo: allwomenstalk.com)

Celebrities are known for a lot of things; for their work, who they know or for simply being famous. The other things that celebrities are known for is their weird habits and phobias. Phobias are excessive, and often irrational, fears which arise when individuals respond unusually to given situations.

When it comes to celebrities; some of their phobias are just plain funny, out rightly weird and appalling. From arachnophobia, zoophobia, brontophobia, swinophobia; you name it, there is a celebrity who suffers from one of the known phobias that exist.

    Orlando Bloom

The British actor charmed his way to many women’s hearts when he delivered a remarkable performance in Troy and the Pirates of The Caribbean movies. But who knew that this heart throb suffers from swinophobia, which is the fear of pigs? Lucky for him, unless he has to appear in a farm based movie he is unlikely to face his phobia.

    Pamela Anderson

Celebrities generally like being the center of attention when they are out in the public. But behind closed doors, Pamela Anderson is said to have a fear of mirrors. It begs the question, how does she put on her make-up or has plastic surgery handled it for her?

    David Beckham

English footballer, David Beckham, is known for his impressive skills on the pitch and his sharp dressing. It does not hurt that he is easy on the eyes and is married to former spice girl Victoria Beckham. However, what most people don’t know is that David suffers from ataxophobia which is the fear for disorder. He is said to display similar perfectionist traits similar to the character in the hit TV Series Monk; he lines up soda cans in the refrigerator in a certain way.

    Madonna

The femme fatale who appears fearless in our eyes is actually afraid of thunderstorms. She suffers from brontophobia and will freeze at the rumbling of thunder.

    Johhny Depp

He has acted as a fearless pirate, quirky chocolate factory owner and as a number of other diversely weird characters. Johnny Depp is actually afraid of clowns, which is an irony because he has a number of times taken-on acting roles which required him to have his face painted; like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

    Tobey Macquire

Unlike Spiderman’s character, which this accomplished actor brought to life on our screens, Tobey admits that he can’t jump off of a roof because he is actually afraid of heights.

Everyone goes on vacation to relax, beyond that all vacationers would like to indulge in all the finest things available in their holiday destination. The most important aspect of going on vacation is choosing a hotel to accommodate you during the course of your visit. When visiting London, you should consider staying at The Ritz.

Located in Piccadilly, with a view of the Green Park, The Ritz is one of the best 5 star hotels found in London. The Hotel opened its doors in 1906, thanks to Cesar Ritz; who was a former manager at the equally popular Savoy Hotel. The building was designed to resemble a Parisian block of flats, by Charles Mewes and Arthur Davis. The Swiss hotelier and owner of the now famous luxurious hotel, Cesar Ritz, took a hands-on approach and run the hotel for a number of years.

The Palm Court found at The Ritz is one of its popular facilities. The Palm Court gave rise to the popular institution, “Tea at the Ritz.” The hotel has hosted a number of celebrities and London’s elite, including; Charlie Chaplin, Queen Elizabeth, Sir Winston Churchill, Judy Garland and King Edward VII.

Getting a seat at The Ritz’s famous restaurant is quite difficult without an advance booking. Patrons usually make bookings several weeks in advance, to ensure that they can indulge in the restaurant’s fine cuisine and stunning ambience. The Ritz houses 6 private dining rooms, the legendary Marie Antoinette Suite and William Kent House.

Notably, The Ritz names its suites after London’s royalty; some of the rooms found at the luxurious hotel include the Queen Elizabeth Room, the Burlington Room and the Prince of Wales Suite. A casino is housed at the basement of the hotel, and entry to this casino comes with a fee. High stake games are conducted within the casino, where the patrons play for ‘big money.’

There is a Ritz Hotel in virtually all locations world wide. The Hotel Ritz Paris is also quite popular, and in the words of Cesar Ritz the hotels strive to provide the wealthy and elite with “all the refinement that a prince could desire in his home.”

The Ritz in London is very popular with honeymooners; it is best to make reservations well in advance, to ensure that you will join the scores of the rich and famous who have been housed by the lavish 5 star hotel.

Large and bold necklaces are the zing needed to transform a simple outfit into a gorgeous ensemble. These neck pieces, contrary to belief, are easy to pair with different outfits for chic looks.

The chunky necklaces are suitable for both informal and formal events. A white T-shirt paired with jeans and accessorized with a chunky neck piece is the simplest chic pairing.

Interesting chunky neck pieces create high-end fashion statements. (Photo:1.bp.blogspot.com)

Evening gowns and dresses in general can also be accessorized with chunky neck pieces. They pair well particularly with strapless or boob-tube dresses.

Remember that these are loud, audacious pieces which should be the focal accessories worn with any particular outfit.

Earrings paired with the chunky neck pieces should be demure to avoid creating an overloaded look. Watches, rings and bangles should complement the neck piece to likewise avoid over crowding the look.

Color Blocking; Put Up the Stop Sign With Your Outfit

    28. July 2011

Gucci Colour-Block Spring Brights Trend. (Photo: 1.bp.blogspot.com)

Color blocking can be defined as a stylistic fashion technique where different colored outfits, that complement each other, are paired together. This is a bold fashion trend which requires the wearer to have basic color-wheel pairing knowledge.

The colors chosen for any color blocking effect should not only complement each other, but they should also support each other.

    Color blocking trends. (Photo: blog.roomitup.com)

Color blocking trends incorporate vivacious colors and definitely get the wearer noticed. The pairing technique relies on the primary colors (blue, red and yellow), which are then paired to create secondary color effect (orange, green and purple).

Likewise, primary and secondary colors can be paired for tertiary color out-looks. Color blocking tints are created by pairing black or white colored outfits with other energetic-colored garments.

Color block every aspect of your life. (Photo: 4.bp.blogspot.com)

Don’t forget about accessories when color blocking.  Accessorize using different-colored jewelry to complement the color blocking effect.

Similar to all other outfit pairings, if it does not look good then it probably is not the right pairing for you. Mix and match different colored outfits to find color blocking effects that work for you.

Play Around With Jewelry To Create Unique Trends

    27. July 2011

Who said that earrings should be worn on the ears, rings on fingers, bangles on the hands and brooches pinned to the lapel of outfits? The fact is that this is the way jewelry has been worn as long as can be remembered, but it is time to break the norm and come up with unique ways to wear jewelry.

Try out bold jewelry trends. (Photo: fashionnette-work.blogspot.com)

Try out bold jewelry trends. (Photo: fashionnette-work.blogspot.com)

Wearing rings on necklace chains is not a new trend. It is however a breath of fresh air from wearing rings on fingers, as they have been worn for ages.

Necklaces can be wrapped around the hand and worn as bangles. (Photo: 2.bp.blogspot.com)

Earrings make great pins or brooches and can be pinned anywhere on an outfit. The trick is to pin them where they are likely to be noticed, especially if they are stud earrings. The hair can be pinned up using loop earrings or the earrings could be used as add-ons on the hair.

Necklaces are currently looped around the hand, and worn as bangles. Try looping necklaces on your ankles as well when wearing shorts or skirts. Different necklace lengths can be worn at a go, with vests or low cut tops. The trick is to layer the necklaces in order of chunkiness, with respect to the bead sizes.

Color blocking jewelry trends. (Photo: bented.com)

Last but not least, contrast jewelry with the outfit worn. The jewelry should not strictly match with the outfit; wearing various shades of jewelry can help an outfit acquire the ‘pop-out’ effect. Use jewelry to emphasize different regions of the body. For instance, wear chandelier earrings to draw emphasis to the face or a trendy belt for a cinched-waist effect.
