Designed by Ralph & Russo, the £230,000 ($368,000) Swarovski gown will be featured as the centerpiece at the Harrods’ Crystal Christmas event. The dress is inspired by the twenties decadence and is embellished with over 150,000 Swarovski crystals.
“We are really excited to be part of ‘A Crystal Christmas’ at Harrods. When I was asked to create my own ultimate Swarovski gown, I was instantly inspired by the Twenties. I wanted to create a show-stopping and intricate piece that oozed with glamour,” said Tamara Ralph; Ralph & Russo’s creative director.
It took the joined effort of more than 25 people and hundreds of man hours to complete the Swarovski studded gown. The dress does reflect the hard work put into it, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind dress. Ralph said, “this is the first time we have ever used so many crystals on a single gown – a total of 152,000 to be precise! The gown took hundreds of hours to create and more than 25 couturiers to hand make, but we are extremely pleased with the finished gown and it really sets off the window nicely.” The gown was unveiled on the 5th of November 2011.
