    Golf Superstar Tiger Woods Vow Victory In Return To Active Golf Play

    American golf superstar Tiger Woods has vowed to give it all when he officially returns to active professional golf play after a long-layoff due to injury.

    Woods in his Twitter account revealed he is set to play at the Bridgestone Invitational next week after missing g two majors during an 11-week break to make sure his left leg was fully healed. “Feeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!” Woods tweeted.

    Woods is facing huge odds in his return to professional golf since he is no longer  among the top 20 in the world, his lowest ranking since Allen Iverson was an NBA rookie. In hi lay-off, woods has gone more than 20 months without winning, and was last seen in golf shoes on May 12 at The Players Championship when he hobbled off the course after a 6-over 42 on the front nine and withdrew.

    He already has had four surgeries on his left knee, and the left Achilles’ gave him just as much trouble. He hurt both of them during the third round of the Masters, although the injuries were described as “minor” when he first mentioned the pain in May.

    Along with his health, there has been change off the golf course. Despite the challenges he is facing, Woods remain confident of his successful return saying he will do his best to go back to the top of professional golf again.Woods said he will give it his 110 percent to try to win the tournament and bring joy to his family, friends and fans who had supported him all these years including the lowest point of his personal and professional life.

    Woods achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Formerly the World No. 1, he is the highest-paid professional athlete in the world, having earned an estimated US$90.5 million from winnings and endorsements in 2010.

    The American golf superstar has won 14 professional major golf championships, the second highest of any male player (Jack Nicklaus leads with 18), and 71 PGA Tour events, third all time behind Sam Snead and Nicklaus. He has more career major wins and career PGA Tour wins than any other active golfer.

    He is the youngest player to achieve the career Grand Slam, and the youngest and fastest to win 50 tournaments on tour. Additionally, Woods is only the second golfer, after Jack Nicklaus, to have achieved a career Grand Slam three times.

    Woods has won 16 World Golf Championships, and won at least one of those events in each of the first 11 years after they began in 1999. Woods held the number one position in the world rankings for the most consecutive weeks and for the greatest total number of weeks.

    He has been awarded PGA Player of the Year a record ten times, the Byron Nelson Award for lowest adjusted scoring average a record eight times, and has the record of leading the money list in nine different seasons.

    Woods Slipped To 21st In Global Golf Ranking

    One of the most well-loved and feared professional golfer in the planet is now out of the top 20 global ranking in the sport of golf for men.

    Sounds surprising but true! American golf superstar Tiger woods has slipped from  his previous position as number eight to 21st slot in the just released professional ranking for men’s golf.The drop is huge for Woods who had not fallen out of the top 20 since January 1997.

    The low ranking of Woods in professional gold had been attributed to the fact that he had not played the sport that made him a global icon since May 12 of  last year because of knee and Achilles tendon injuries. The American golf superstar is sad with his low golf ranking but he is confident he can regain back the slot of top professional golfer in the planet soon.

    After a long-layoff in golf, Woods is expected to announce later this week that he will return to action at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday. That would test his fitness ahead of the year’s final Major, the USPGA Championship in Atlanta, which starts on August 11.

    Last week, Woods became a headline after he announced on his website that he had fired his longtime caddie, New Zealander Steve Williams.     New Poster Boy Of Golf Is Heir Apparent Of Tiger Woods

    The newest star in professional golf and heir apparent to the golfing throne of American golf superstar Tiger Woods, revealed he is more than ready to carry the torch of the sport of golf for years to come.

    Newly crowned 2011 US Open champion Rory McIlroy said he can handle the pressure as the newest superstar in golf, now that Woods, considered as one of the greatest professional golfer of all time is suffering a  slump. The 22-year-old McIlroy became the newest toast in professional golf and eyed as the next Woods after he swept to his first major victory in record-breaking style at Congressional on Sunday.

    Despite his recent success in professional golf, the Northern Irishman remain humble saying he need to continue to train and play harder for him to last long in golf. “With success comes expectation, and I know the expectation on me is going to be pretty high,” McIlroy said. “I expect big things from myself, but as long as I can keep the commitment and dedication and put the hard work in, I don’t see why there’s any reason not to handle it OK,” McIlroy added.

    In winning the US Open, McIlroy drew praises after he won the tournament by an eight-shot margin, reviving memories of Woods’ first major title—a 12-shot victory at the Masters in 1997 at age 21. Golf experts said considering McIlroy had previously won just two tournaments in his professional career, it was a surprise how easily he handled the course and field over four days.

    As of the moment, McIlroy is taking the next three weeks off. The young golf superstar will resume his playing career in the forthcoming British Open at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, southeast England, starting July 14. He has represented Ireland as both an amateur and a professional.

    He had a successful amateur career, topping the World Amateur Golf Ranking for one week as a 17-year-old in 2007. Later that year he turned professional and soon established himself on the European Tour. He had his first win on the European Tour in 2009, and on the PGA Tour in 2010.

    He represented Europe in the 2010 Ryder Cup. He finished with a record score of 16-under-par on his way to an eight-shot victory, as the youngest US Open winner since Bobby Jones in 1923. The US Open victory lifted McIlroy’s position in the World Golf Rankings to a career high of number four.

    Moreover, He has been cited as the most exciting young prospect in golf and having the potential to become one of the highest earners in sports in terms of endorsements.
