    18. August 2011

One of the best player to have played in the National Basketball Association is facing a huge possibility of being slapped with a monetary penalty for issuing comment regarding a certain NBA player when the NBA lockout is still ongoing.

Michael Jordan, who is now an NBA owner of the Charlotte Bobcats can face pay some fine after he issued some statements on Australian star center Andrew Bogut who currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks. It can be recalled that part of the NBA lockout is the prohibition to speak about players, coaches, officials to the media.

Jordan recently told the Australian newspaper Sydney Herald that Bogut is a great player who has the potential to be a superstar in the NBA. He said to become a superstar in the NBA, Bogut needs to overcome his elbow injury which has bothered his playing career in the NBA.

If Jordan will indeed be fined for his comment, it would show the world that even superstars can be penalized if they violate NBA laws. Jordan was one of the most effectively marketed athletes of his generation and was instrumental in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s.

After a standout career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Tar Heels’ National Championship team in 1982, Jordan joined the NBA’s Chicago Bulls in 1984.  He quickly emerged as a league star, entertaining crowds with his prolific scoring. His leaping ability, illustrated by performing slam dunks from the free throw line in slam dunk contests, earned him the nicknames “Air Jordan” and “His Airness”.

He also gained a reputation for being one of the best defensive players in basketball. In 1991, he won his first NBA championship with the Bulls, and followed that achievement with titles in 1992 and 1993, securing a “three-peat”.  Although Jordan abruptly retired from basketball at the beginning of the 1993–94 NBA season to pursue a career in baseball, he rejoined the Bulls in 1995 and led them to three additional championships (1996, 1997, and 1998) as well as an NBA-record 72 regular-season wins in the 1995–96 NBA season.

Jordan retired for a second time in 1999, but returned for two more NBA seasons from 2001 to 2003 as a member of the Washington Wizards. Jordan’s individual accolades and accomplishments include five MVP awards, ten All-NBA First Team designations, nine All-Defensive First Team honors, fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances, three All-Star Game MVP awards, ten scoring titles, three steals titles, six NBA Finals MVP awards, and the 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.

He holds the NBA records for highest career regular season scoring average (30.12 points per game) and highest career playoff scoring average (33.45 points per game). In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was second to Babe Ruth on the Associated Press’s list of athletes of the century.

He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. Jordan is also noted for his product endorsements. He fueled the success of Nike’s Air Jordan sneakers, which were introduced in 1985 and remain popular today.Jordan also starred in the 1996 feature film Space Jam as himself.

A rising center in the National Basketball Association was recently arrested for initiating a fight inside a night club in South Texas in the United States.

Texas police arrested Oklahoma City Thunder power-forward Kendrick Perkins for misdemeanour disorderly conduct and public intoxication after the altercation Saturday morning. In the initial police investigation, Perkins around 2 a.m. that day reportedly attempted to fight the club’s manager.

The police added the crowd pushed Perkins out the back door of the club, where he continued to yell obscenities and start other fights. With his unruly actuation, Perkins was arrested and taken to Jefferson County jail.

Perkins was later released after posting $150 bond.It was learned that the misdemeanour charges are punishable by fines. The 6’10″ center was drafted in the first round with the 27th pick of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, but was immediately traded along with Marcus Banks to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Troy Bell and Dahntay Jones, who had been selected by the Celtics in the same draft.

During the 2004–05 season, Perkins received more playing time than he did his rookie season, and became known as one of the tougher players on the Celtics. He had a limited role during the regular season and playoffs as the team’s “enforcer”. On February 24, 2011, Perkins and Nate Robinson were traded to Oklahoma City Thunder for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstić.

NBA Legend Hakeem Olajuwon Teaches LBJ To Become Best In NBA

    09. August 2011

Expect a far better Miami Heat superstar forward Lebron James in the next National Basketball Association season.

Do not be surprised if you will see a far better National Basketball Association superstar forward Lebron “King” James in the next NBA season if it happens.

This developed after it was learned that James had undergone a basketball training with NBA legend and two-time champion Hakeem Olajuwon for him to hone further his offensive skills and become the best player in the NBA. James said getting the chance to train with Olajuwon is a huge boost to his career since the latter is considered as one of the top players in the history of the NBA.

“I look at what he was able to do throughout his career,” James said. “Unbelievable talent. Multiple champion. Just to see how he was able to dominate in the low post, for me as an individual, I just try to look at some of the things I feel I need to get better at and hit home at it,” James added.

It can be recalled that during the recent NBA championship this year, James had been criticized severely for failing to provide scoring for the Miami Heat that lead to their eventual loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Now that he had undergone some training with Olajuwon, James hope to play better in the next season of the premier professional basketball league in the planet.

Olajuwon had been a busy NBA veteran the past few NBA seasons since aside from James he had also teach some offensive plays to NBA superstars Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant. Watch-out James could be doing some shake and bait and a  barrage of hook-shots in the next NBA season.

James had a colorful resume in his NBA career. James was taken with the number one pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and signed a shoe contract with Nike before his professional debut. Listed as a small forward, James has set numerous youngest player records since joining the league. He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2003–04, was named the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2008–09 and 2009–10, and has been both an All-NBA selection and an All-Star every season since 2005. In 2010, a much-publicized free agency process ended with James signing with the Miami Heat.

One of the superstars of the National Basketball Association has expressed willingness to play overseas particularly China if ever the lockout will not end soon.

Orlando Magic superstar center Dwight “Superman” Howard said there is a big possibility he will play somewhere else if ever the lockout will not be resolve since he wanted to keep his basketball passion alive and continue to improve as an NBA player. “I’m not at liberty to talk about it,” he said, “but there’s a huge possibility about me going to China or me going overseas to play basketball,” Howard, a five-time All-Star who led Orlando to the NBA finals in 2009 said.

“If I decide to go overseas, the main thing is for me to continue to get better, not to do the things that I normally do, but do better at the things I’m not good at,” Howard added. Air Jordan Is More Popular Than King James In US Today

    14. July 2011

The lackluster performance of Miami Heat superstar forward Lebron “King” James in the National Basketball Association Finals against eventual champion Dallas Mavericks continue to hound the widely popular sport athlete in the world.

This developed after a recent survey among sports fans in the United States has shown that King James is no longer part of the top 10 despite the fact that he was ranked sixth in the same survey in 2010 and third in 2009. In the survey it was uncovered that NBA legend and former Chicago Bulls superstar guard Michael “Air” Jordan is more popular than him since he finished in the top 10.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant and Chicago Bulls rising point-guard Derrick Rose were also part in the top 10 most popular sports athlete in the US. Taking the top spot in the survey among 2,163 adults is New York Yankees superstar shortstop Derek Jeter.

The low ranking of James had been attributed by basketball experts in his bad performance in the last NBA Finals where he failed to score big to carry the Heat to the championship.

In 2010, a much-publicised free agency process ended with James signing with the Miami Heat.He became the third reigning NBA MVP to change teams and the first since Moses Malone in 1982.
