UK Government Announced New Cyber Security Strategy

This year the notorious hackers of the hactivist groups around the world have made headlines by breaching into the websites of several high-profile organizations including Sony, Citigroup, European Space Agency, European Parliament, WordPress, Voice of America etc. In a word, they made 2011 as the banner year of cybercrimes. Many renowned companies and governments are taking necessary steps to improve the security system in their websites. The UK government has announced the 2011 cyber security strategy focusing on to protect cybercrimes on November 25, 2011.
According to the new security strategy, a group of specialist dubbed as National Crime Agency (NCA) will handle the cyber-attacks in UK. Polices with specialist skills in UK would form the agency. The hackers would also be a part of the new security control team. The team of experts will collect the actionable data on cyber-crimes, analyze new possibilities of attacks and work to advance the cyber security capabilities in UK.
Specifically, this is a private and public sectors cyber security process. The joint participation of both the private and public sectors could bring success for the new cyber security policy. Besides, individuals in both the private and public sections require ‘awareness, engagement and trust among seniors on both sides’.
The Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the new strategy and said, “Cyber security is a top priority for government and we will continue to work closely with the police, security services, international partners and the private sector to ensure that the UK remains one of the most secure places in the world to do business.”
The UK government published the 43 pages report on the cyber security strategy in the news release of Cabinet Office. The new approach from the UK government shows that how the government is planning for economic prosperity of the individual in UK, and as well as protecting national security and the public’s way of life by introducing trusted and resilient digital environment.
