The dream fight between Filipino boxing superstar Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and undefeated American boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. might happen after-all.
This developed after Pacquiao has accepted the request of Mayweather for them to undergo an “unlimited random (blood) testing” before their big-fight. It can be recalled that the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather had been stalled in the past after the camp of Pacquiao refused to accept the “unlimited random (blood) testing” request of Mayweather since they believe the Filipino boxing superstar will feel weak if the test is done a day before the fight.
The refusal of Pacquiao to accept the request, even prompt Mayweather to accused him of using steroids and other performance enhancing drugs to get to his status as the top professional boxer in the planet today. Pacquiao denied the insinuations asserting that he became the top pound for pound boxer in the planet because of hard-training ang deep trust in God.
The Filipino boxing superstar even filed a libel and defamation case against Mayweather for such malicious accusation. Bob Arum, the president of Top Rank Promotions which promotes the fight Pacquiao revealed although his ward already accepted the request of Mayweather, Pacquiao requested that the test be done by a neutral organization and not United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), which he perceived bias towards Mayweather.
Arum hoped that the mega-bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather can finally happen now that his boxer already accepted the request of the undefeated American boxing superstar. Pacquiao and Mayweather have scheduled fights in the coming months and it is of course paramount for them to hurdle these obstacles.
Mayweather faces southpaw Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17, while Pacquiao meets Juan Manuel Marquez on Nov. 12. Both fights are going to be staged at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.Pacquiao and Mayweather are both heavy favorites to repulse their respective opponents. If ever the fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather indeed happen in 2012 or the near future it would a huge blessing to professional boxing fans, who had long salivated to see the two feared boxers face each other one-on-one, on the boxing ring and see who is the better boxer between them.
