Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney got a much needed endorsement from a person he least expected to support his United States presidential bid.

Romney was endorsed by business tycoon Donald Trump in his quest to defeat incumbent Democratic president Barrack Obama in the forthcoming presidential election in November 2012. According to report, Trump decided to support Romney since he liked the latter’s positions on China and OPEC.

In endorsing Romney, Trump also said that he is no longer seeking the US presidency either as an independent or third party candidate. Political observers were surprised with the decision to Trump to endorsed Romney since he earlier hinted he will endorsed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Like any politician, Romney expressed joy with the support of Trump since it gives him moral boost in his quest to defeat Obama in the presidential election this year in America.

    24. December 2011

The politics in the United States for the forthcoming presidential election in 2012 is getting hotter and more personal.

A Republican congressman recently apologized to US First Lady Michelle Obama after he said that the latter has a big butt inside the Delta Lounge at Reagan National Airport outside Washington. Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner sent a note of apology to the wife of President Barrack Obama for his inappropriate and below the belt statement.

Sensenbrenner earlier made the unsavory statement after Obama made a strong crusade to fight obesity by eating healthy foods. He said the wife of the president has no reason to make such a crusade since she herself had a “large posterior.”

The First Lady at the moment had yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. The First Lady has become a fashion icon and role model for women, and an advocate for poverty awareness and healthy eating.

Newt Gingrich Takes The Lead In Iowa Presidential Poll

    07. December 2011

The quest of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to take the nomination of the Republican party in the November 2012 presidential election, against United States president and Democratic party member Barrack Obama is gaining ground.

This developed after Gingrich took the lead in the recent presidential poll among Republican hopefuls in Iowa. According to reports, Gingrich gain the backing of 25 percent of Republican supporters in the area which is up by seven percent in late October.

Based on the survey conducted by The Des Moines Register newspaper, it was learned that Texas Representative Ron Paul and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney finished second and third, with support at 18 percent and 16 percent, respectively. The survey also shows that support for Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann and former pizza magnate Herman Cain, who dropped out of the race on Saturday, was tied at 8 percent.

Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum each drew 6 percent, and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman rounded out the field at 2 percent. It was learned that while Gingrich has reasons to smile on the latest survey, Romney had reason to be sad since hi 22 percent support in the area in late October dropped to only 16 percent.

The decline in Romney’s popularity rating had been blamed on his past backing for abortion rights and a Massachusetts healthcare overhaul that was a precursor of Obama’s federal law. The recent political survey was made last November 27-30 and was based on telephone interviews with 401 Republicans who are likely to attend the caucuses.

The margin of error is plus or minus 4.9 percentage points. Moreover, it was reported that in 2008, the same poll was conducted and correctly predicted wins for former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in the Republican contest and Obama, then a senator, in the Democratic caucus.

Trust Rating Of Barrack Obama Rose By 2 Percent

    05. November 2011

United States president Barrack Obama has reasons to smile these days after his trust rating increased from 47 percent to 49 percent. (Photo: boston.com)

The economic condition of the United States might not look good at the moment but President Barrack Obama still had reasons to smile these days.

This developed after a recent survey has shown that his trust rating has increased by two percent. In a poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos the trust rating of Obama is 49 percent slightly better than his 47 percent trust rating in October.

Political experts said the increased in the trust rating of Obama could be attributed to the continue mudslinging between the possible candidates of the Republican party in the 2012 US presidential elections. On the same survey it was also learned that the number of Americans who has high hopes that the country is headed to the right direction also increased from 21 to 25 percent.

Ipsos pollster Julia Clark said the result of the survey is a strong indication that the 2012 US presidential election will be a close fight between the Democrats and Republicans. The survey is taken from 1,106 adults, 937 of whom were registered voters was conducted from October 31 to November 3.

Obama is the first African American to hold the office. He previously served as a United States senator from Illinois, from January 2005 until he resigned following his victory in the 2008 presidential election. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the president of the Harvard Law Review.

He was a community organizer in Chicago before earning his law degree. He worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago and taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. He served three terms representing the 13th district in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. As president, Obama signed economic stimulus legislation in the form of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in February 2009 and the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act in December 2010. Other domestic policy initiatives include the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act.

In foreign policy, he gradually withdrew combat troops from Iraq, increased troop levels in Afghanistan, signed the New START arms control treaty with Russia, ordered enforcement of the United Nations-sanctioned no-fly zone over Libya, and issued a direct order to a small group of American military forces to kill al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
