Axel’s Opera Camper Offers The Most Luxurious Stay
16. November 2011
Despite what most people say, camping is not the most luxurious experience in the world. However, the Opera camper has been able to infuse the luxurious experience to camping. Simply put, Axel has been able to create a comfortable bedroom that moves around with you; wherever you go and when you are ready to turn in for the night.
The portable foldout trailer is Axel Enthoven’s creative innovation, which is inspired by the Sydney Opera House. Rob Vos, who developed the camper, explained “It folds out of the trailer in minutes, revealing a sleek interior that includes hot and cold running water, a toilet, a simple stove, a wine cabinet and an espresso bar. As well as two luxury beds that slide together at the push of a button. And an enclosed teak veranda.”
The camper was handmade in Geldrop, Netherlands and it is constructed using hardwood, leather and stainless steel. It takes less than five minutes to assemble the camper which levels itself electronically, when opened. The camper measures 7m long and about 3m wide and 3.5 m in height.
The camper comes with an ‘Opera Guide,’ which contains information about exclusive sites to camp in and information about the restaurants as well as picturesque destinations found around the camping sites.
The limited edition campers are expected to retail for about €27,680 ($37,583.62) and € 340 ($461.65) in delivery charges. The Opera mobile camper will be displayed in December, at the Design at Work trade fair held in Belgium.
